The artist formerly known as the Tinkerous Toddler

Ma Puce Logo - learn French language for 0-6 year old children

It is with a mixture of happiness and sadness that I announce a name change for the artist formerly known as the Tinkerous Toddler.

Sadness, because it means that I finally have to admit that, as a tall two and a half year old, TT can no longer truthfully be defined as a ‘toddler’. Long gone are the days when she teetered on her tippy-toes, lurching from one side to the other as she bumbled her way around. And long gone are the days when she came out with a jumble of sounds that vaguely sounded like words. Long gone are any traits of being a toddler.

Happiness, because TT has a shiny new ‘blog name’, one that she will be known as, both on this blog and on my (coincidentally) shiny new blog… which also, coincidentally, shares the same name as her new ‘blog name’. Are you following me? No? Well, come on now, pay attention…

My new website and blog is called Ma Puce and that is also now the ‘blog name’ of the artist formerly known as the Tinkerous Toddler. Oh gosh, that is probably the last time I will ever type ‘Tinkerous Toddler’… oh hang on a minute, that was the last time… Sob.

In case you’re wondering, ‘Ma Puce’ is French for ‘My Flea’. But in France, ‘My Flea’ is used as a term of endearment for little children. No really, it is. It’s kind of cute once you get used to it.

And so, onto new things. Ma Puce – the website – is a resource for parents of children aged 0 – 6 years, who would like to teach them French as a second language. The main focus is for parents who don’t speak French as a native language, but of course native French speakers are very welcome too.

If you get a mo, I’d love it if you would stop by Ma Puce and have a look around the site. You will find information and news on bilingualism, guides to getting started teaching your child French as a second language, tips on how to start your own French singing group, tips on the best learning aides to help you on your mission and a whole bunch of other stuff.

The site is in its infancy at the moment, the aim is to keep it regularly updated with news, information and resources. And the Ma Puce blog will be a big part of helping it grow. I’ll be wittering on about our own learning French mission, alongside posting info galore on teaching French to young children.

If you get more than a quick mo, it would be simply marvellous if you could show me and the Ma Puce website and blog some blog love by following Ma Puce on Twitter, giving Ma Puce a ‘Like” on Facebook and connecting with Ma Puce on Google+.

I’d really value and appreciate any feedback you have on things you’d like to see on Ma Puce, things you think are really great and things you think could do with some tweaking.

This is a big new project for me, a bit of a labour of love, much like the Tinkerous Toddler – doh, typed it again, when I should’ve put Ma Puce! I hope it won’t get too confusing for you that my two babies now share the same name. If it does I’ll have to have a re-think!!

Oh and one last thing. In case any of you stopping by Ma Puce wonder if the gorgeous little girl pictured on the home page is my daughter. The answer is no, I found her on a good ole stock shot site!!

I will check out your new blog! I clicked on your Twitter and G+ buttons at the top of this blog and the links are broken/don’t work properly, just thought you should know! (Your Twitter works fine on your Pinterest page.)

Hi Lisa, thanks so much for flagging up the Twitter and G+ fails. I’ve sorted Twitter, still working on G+. The weird thing is that they both worked back when I started this blog, technology works in strange ways!!!
