Save The Children’s Break The Chains Of Hunger chain letter is addressed to David Cameron. The aim of the letter is to let Mr. Cameron know how important we all feel it is that he seizes the opportunity at May’s G8 summit to save children’s lives.
Ask The G8 To Break The Chains Of Hunger
Food security is on the agenda at the G8 Summit in May. This is quite literally a do-it-or-die opportunity to tackle hunger head on and change children’s lives. I hope you agree, this isn’t an opportunity we can afford to let pass.
The G8 is an informal but exclusive group of eight nations, comprising seven of the world’s leading industrialised nations and Russia. The G8 has no headquarters, budget or permanent staff. Its purpose s to tackle global challenges through discussion and action. We want breaking the chains of hunger to be high on the agenda at this year’s G8 summit.
Malnutrition
There is enough food for everyone in this world. And yet, each year millions of children are born into hunger. Over a third of children who die under the age of five lose their lives because they can’t get the nutrition they need. The number of children dying needlessly as a result of not having enough food is a shocking 300 every hour.
And aside from all the children that die, for those that survive, malnutrition is a life sentence. Lack of access to basic nutritious foods leads to children being starved of vital nutrients that enable their growing bodies and minds to develop. Malnourished children are weaker and less likely to survive severe food shortages, like the one that is occurring across Africa from Sengal to Somalia right now.
How you can help Break The Chains Of Hunger
We have the power to help stop millions of children from suffering malnutrition, by helping them break free from hunger.
