The Tinkerous Toddler has taken to making up songs. It’s not too surprising, as I’ve made up several ditties for her over the last couple of years. The first was a couple of weeks after she was born and I lamented the demise of the disappearance of the recording we had of it on her monitor on this very blog.
The most recent is called ‘Don’t Look At The Mole, Don’t Touch The Mole. Leave The Mole Alone’. It came about to try and stave off her obsession with playing with a mole that I have just under my chin. A mole I never gave a second thought to until TT came along. For some reason it is like her comfort blanket. Unfortunately, I now live in constant fear that she will pull it off.
Anyway, I digress. The Tinkerous one has now ventured into creating her own songs. Her first composition had its first airing last night and today, she repeated it, along with two other freshly coined numbers, which are all delivered after a very chirpy, “I’m going to sing a song now”.
Firstly we have:
“da da da da da-da da-da, da da da da da-da da-da da-da I love you”
Then there’s…
“mm mm mm mm-mm mm-mm, mm mm mm mm-mm-mm-mmmmm I love you”
and most recently…
“la la la-la-la la la la la la-la-la-lallllaaaa I love you”
I know. I know. My child is a songwriting genius. I can just picture the Ivor Novello Awards sitting on our mantle piece in years to come. She’ll be the Adele of her generation.
